Your enthusiasm for Saints football is contagious and watching the games together is one of my favorite memories. Also, I admire that you have a natural affinity for animals and are very attuned to their needs. I love that you have such an appreciation for nature and enjoy capturing beautiful sunsets with a photo. You are smart, handsome and compassionate toward others! When there is a need, you are there. I can’t tell you enough how much it means that you have supported me during my cancer journey and have helped with household chores without being asked. Even though the season was cut short, your leadership and athleticism shone brightly. I was the proudest soccer mom in the stands as you were captain of your team your senior year. This is shown through your unmatched devotion to your friends and family. Not only are you a deep thinker, but you have a huge heart. Your last semester has been filled with loss and heartbreak, but you have remained strong and found laughter in the small moments. I am so proud of you for finishing up your high school classes online during this pandemic. You learned to be more concerned with your character and your integrity than your reputation. You are destined for great things! Know that God is good, merciful and almighty! From kindergarten til today you chose to march to the beat of your own drum, even if that meant being left out of “fun” things. Most of all, my tears are anticipation of the journey that is ahead for you. Although you will see me cry, rest assured these tears are full of life, joy, and memories. I was in labor with you for 11 hours and when you finally made your grand entrance into this world I waited anxiously to hear your first cry. We love you so much - mom, dad, and Caroline Anya Jenkins, Pike Road High Despite the odds, we had no doubt you'd succeed in your most difficult challenge - earning an appointment to the U.S. Little did we know that your first off key note on the French Horn would one day lead to tears of pride as we watched you be personally recognized for your tenacity and determination while marching in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Despite the challenge of uprooting every few years and living in seven states in only 18 years, you succeeded In every endeavor you started, from Tiger Scout to Eagle Scout, from your first flight in Virginia to earning your Student Pilot License in the skies above our Prattville home. It seems like yesterday you were a little boy coming home with toads and turtles or beaming with pride as you pushed the book cart around your elementary school. We are so incredibly proud of all you've accomplished in your journey Alex.
